New Readers Publishers is currently funded by income from the sale of books, paid work for short term contracts (like the 2004 Literacy and Development Publication project) and paid facilitation of workshops. The salaries of the Director (part-time) and the Project Manager (full-time) are covered by the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The University also provides office accommodation and computer networking and support.
